WALLY'S JIG FISHING 101
This shows the evolution of a jig intended for one species of fish becoming a series for most game fish. The top three are 1/4, 3/16 and 1/8. I use these to fish for smallmouth and stripe below the dams here on the Tennessee River in Northern Alabama. Doing this, I caught a lot of crappie. This led to the creation of the 1/16 with marabou tail. The occasional big bluegills and shellcracker led me to create one with a mallard feather tail to lessen the profile. It further evolved when I created one with a 1/24 and 1/32 head and a #6 hook. This one and Paul's Cricket quickly became my "go to" for both casting and fishing below a float for bream on local lakes. The last one is on a 1/24 head with a #8 hook. I use this to catch trout in the spill waters below Tim's Ford Dam and some streams in Tennessee.
